The Pike/Pine/Broadway vicinity became Seattle's Auto Row shortly after the first automobile was offered for sale locally in 1905. For the next twenty years, virtually all auto dealers, and numerous auto-related business, were located in this area. In the 1930s this building was owned by S. L. Savidge, one of the largest auto dealerships, and used as a repair facility. It later became a warehouse for Lincoln Moving & Storage and in the 1990s was converted to a brewery and pub. Only minor modifications have been made to the windows and entry. This early warehouse is an intact example of a Chicago commercial style building, notable particularly for its large amount of window area and its prominent location on East Pike Street.
This imposing concrete building has notably large windows with both the second and third floors having 16-light pivoting wood sash, in groups of four or five on each of the main elevations. The large display windows with tall transoms, and the recessed entries are also intact. The building is otherwise very simple, with the only ornamentation being the coping, pilasters, narrow belt courses and panels of concrete and stucco.
