This is an example of Queen Anne -- Free Classic architecture. The structure’s design integrity has been compromised by conversion to duplex use, alterations to the porch, and replacement of the cladding.

This is one of approximately 2,200 houses that are still extant out of more than 5,000 that were built by the end of 1906 in Seattle’s Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods. The structure is located in a portion of the Central Area also known as the East Madison district.

The building was converted to a duplex a some point after 1937, probably in the 1950s. A deck has been added at the back of the structure. The original siding was replaced or covered with concrete/asbestos shingle by 1957. A wood balustrade at center of porch roof was replaced with a metal railing between 1937 and 1957. The original entry porch railing is no longer extant. The half height Tuscan columns that originally supported the porch roof and the associated clapboard clad pedestals have been replaced with metal filigree supports.
