The earliest building permits asociated with this property date from 1911 and several structures appear to have been erected on the parcel over the years. However, structures built prior to 1954 appear to have been wrecked in 1941. Portions of the present structure were completed in 1954 and then moved and expanded in 1958. Young, Richardson & Carleton designed an addition built in 1963-64. Businesses associated with this property (since the 1920s) have included Rainier Furniture Manuafacturing Company. Since the 1950s, George Popovitch and George Pocock Racing Shells have been associated with the site. Glass artist Dale Chihuly has owned the property since at least 1990.
The King County Property Record Card indicates that the framework of at least a portion of the present structure was built of wood.
