Significance
This an unusual house, built in 1961 in the Northwest Regional style. It was designed by its owner, Daniel Streissguth, to accommodate the steep hillside location. The house is surrounded by gardens and greenbelts, near St. Mark's Cathedral. Woodbridge notes how the house steps down the hillside, “a contemporary approach to hillside design, boxy but elegant.” The building is a triplex with three stories.

Appearance
The house has tall narrow windows on the street (east) façade, with a simple bridge connecting to the entry, which is on the top floor. Although the house looks small from the street (east), it descends for three levels down the hillside. It has a flat roof with deep eaves with flat brackets. Cladding is wood shingles. An enclosed square bay with tall narrow windows runs down the center of the west façade. On each side of this, on each story, is a balcony with tall narrow windows and doors and metal railing. The tall chimney (now painted white) on the south eelvaitonis a major feature.
