This Modernistic building was built for the National Bank of Commerce, which later became part of US Bank. It was designed by George Wellington Stoddard & Associates. Stoddard began practicing with his father in the 1920s and continued into the 1950s, completing such well-known works as the Green Lake Aqua Theater, Memorial Stadium and numerous homes, apartments and commercial buildings.
This bank is typical of the 1950s, showing the influence of the International Style. It is an L-shaped structure with the banking floor and office on the second floor above an open parking area. A drive-through teller booth was added in 1964. The elevator lobby on the east side is clad with polished red granite. The remainder of the building is concrete and concrete block with large ribbon windows.
