NOTICE OF A CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING ON LEGISLATION MODIFYING MAINTENANCE AND DEMOLITION STANDARDS FOR VACANT BUILDINGS

Conditions:

The Seattle City Council is considering proposed legislation that would strengthen standards for securing vacant buildings, establish an expedited process for removal of garbage and other debris from sites with vacant buildings, establish an expedited process for demolition of hazardous vacant buildings, and reduce the amount of time that a building on a site in the development permitting process must remain vacant prior to demolition.   

 

PUBLIC HEARING

 

The City Council’s Planning, Land Use and Zoning (PLUZ) Committee will hold a public hearing to take comments on the proposed legislation on June 20, 2017, at 9:30 a.m.  The hearing will be held in the Seattle City Council Chambers at City Hall: 600 Fourth Avenue, 2nd Floor, Seattle, WA 98104.  Information about visiting City Hall is available at: www.seattle.gov/council/meet-the-council/visiting-city-hall.

For those who wish to testify, sign-up sheets will be available starting at 9:00 a.m.

Copies of the proposals may be obtained at the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections Public Resource Center, 700 5th Avenue, Suite 2000 in the Seattle Municipal Tower. The Public Resource Center is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.  The proposal is also available through the City Clerk’s legislation portal: seattle.legistar.com/Legislation.aspx.  Please reference Council Bill 118971 in the “Record No:” field.
