Built By: unknown Year Built: 1926
In the opinion of the survey, this property appears to meet the criteria of the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Ordinance.
This building, at the prominent location where Ravenna Boulevard joins Green Lake Way NE, was built by the Vance lumber Company in 1926, and is noted on maps of the time as the Vance Building (7007 Woodlawn Ave NE and 300 NE Ravenna Blvd). It was later owned for many years by the Pohl family. It originally had numerous tenants, primarily retail and service businesses including grocery stores, beauty parlors, barbers and cleaners. However it is now occupied entirely by Gregg's Greenlake Cycle which sells, repairs and rents bicycles. Gregg's has been in the building since at least 1937, making it one of the longest-established businesses in the area.
This irregularly-shaped structure occupies the entire block formed by the intersection of three streets across form Green Lake. It is an unusual Mission-inspired structure, with a mission-style arch above each storefront. Cladding is stucco. Of the seven original storefronts, several retain their wooden doors and wood-frame display windows. The main entry, at the south point of the triangle, has been modernized with new metal-frame doors and windows.
