Historic Name: Common Name:
Style: Queen Anne - Cottage Neighborhood: Central Area
Built By: Year Built: 1905
This is a fairly typical example of Queen Anne - Cottage architecture, although the structure’s design integrity has been somewhat compromised by replacement of most of the windows, the replacement of the garage door, and modifications to the porch.

This is one of approximately 2,200 houses that are still extant out of more than 5,000 that were built by the end of 1906 in Seattle’s Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods.

A complete permit history, and a complete record of ownership and occupation have not yet been prepared for this property.

King County Property Record Card (c. 1938-1972) Washington State Archives

The hip roof with lower intersecting gable roof and enclosed soffits is a signature feature of Queen Anne housing; however, the long rectangular floor plan is suggestive of early twentieth century bungalow design.

This house appears to have been built in 1905.

The small window that opened onto the porch in 1937 has been greatly enlarged; most of the other windows appear to have been replaced, though the openings do not appear to have been significantly altered. Bars have been added at some window openings. Ribbed plastic transluscent panels have been installed to screen the porch. The basement garage door has been replaced. The decorative modillions have been removed from the soffits. The front steps have been rebuilt and the stair railings have been replaced with railings of late twentieth century design.
