Significance
In the opinion of the survey, this property appears to meet the criteria of the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Ordinance.
In the opinion of the survey, this property is located in a potential historic districe (National and/or local).
This is a good example of a Tudor-inspired Arts & Crafts style house, combining Tudor elements such as half-timbering with the more horizontal and somewhat lighter orientation of the English Arts & Crafts. It was built in 1910 but no building permit or early ownership information has been found. The current owner purchased the house in 1961. This street, 22nd Avenue E., is in Capitol Hill Division 6, at the eastern edge of Capitol Hill, the last of the plats of James Moore, the original developer of the neighborhood. As the topography slopes steeply down to the east, this street enjoys spectacular views, and the streets are lined with unusually fine homes.

Appearance
This house has a side-gable form, but with a very large shallow-pitched gabled dormer covering the entire front. This dormer and the other gable ends are stucco clad with half-timbered detailing. Cladding on the first story is brick. At the northwest corner is a shallow gabled portico, supported by pairs of heavy square posts, forming a spacious, open porch to the entry, with a plain wooden door. Windows on the street façade are few, with one in the gable end and two on the first floor. On the south side, the second floor projects over the first, with heavy brackets.
