This house is important as a representative of architect W. P. White's residential work as a proponent of the Craftsman style. It enhances our knowledge of White and his work as well as the development of early 20th century vernacular architecture in Seattle. (This house is one of several excellent Craftsman cottages and bungalows on this block). This house was built for George Tallman in 1915 and was still in the Tallman estate in 1937.
This is a one and 1/2 story Craftsman cottage with side gabled roof and monumental gable center dormer. The full width enset porch is supported by battered wooden porch posts resting on massive brick piers. The eaves are open with knee brace decoration. The gables are clad in wood shingles with the body of the house lad in cedar siding. It has an asymmetrical cottage door. Original porch railing is missing.
